Tim Radjy
Founder and Managing Partner


Tim is the Founder of and Managing Partner of AlphaMundi Group since 2008, and based in Geneva, Switzerland. He is also Chairman of the Board of AlphaMundi’s SocialAlpha Investment Fund (SAIF) in Luxembourg, the Treasurer of AlphaMundi Foundation in Washington DC, and Chairman of the Investment Committee of the AlphaJiri Fund in Mauritius. Tim previously worked at UBS Wealth Management where he became a founding member of UBS Philanthropy Services for UHNWI clients. He also spent time in Bolivia, assessing microfinance programs on behalf of the Swiss Development Agency, and with WWF International as an advisor on major donors. Tim holds a Degree in Political Science from the University of Geneva and a Private Banking Diploma from UBS, and is fluent in French, English and Spanish.

Lisa Scheible Willems
Managing Director


Lisa Willems is a Managing Director at AlphaMundi and based Washington DC. She joined the company in 2013 as Director for African Investments. Following a move from Switzerland to the US in 2015, she started and currently manages the Group’s US operations. She created and presides the AlphaMundi Foundation in 2016 in Washington DC, and secured the initial funding from USAID. She also sits on the Investment Committee for SAIF-Bastion. Beyond her AlphaMundi activities, Lisa sits on the investment committee of Illumen Capital, a private equity impact fund-of-funds launched in 2018, and she teaches impact investing as an adjunct professor at American University. Prior to AlphaMundi, Lisa was Director of Investments at the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation where she was a member of a three-person team responsible for overseeing all aspects of management of the USD 600M endowment and played an integral role in building a new investment process. In the impact investing space Lisa has worked with the Overseas Private Investment Corporation, an emerging market fund of funds sponsored by the US Government and Grassroots Business Fund, an impact investment fund in Washington, DC. Beyond her investing experience she spent four years working as a management consultant in New York predominantly at Oliver Wyman. She holds BAs in Economics and Public Policy from Duke University and an MBA from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business.

Marlene Hormes
Managing Director


Marlene (Carvajal) Hormes, CFA, is a Managing Director at AlphaMundi based in Nairobi, Kenya. Marlene is an investment professional with 20 years of experience who joined us from DEG, Europe’s largest development finance institution, where as Vice President she led teams of professionals throughout the various stages of investing - from sourcing deals to due diligence, structuring and legal documentation to asset management - for a multi-sector private-equity and mezzanine portfolio totaling USD 180M. She held additional roles at DEG in the areas of debt restructuring, infrastructure investments, and impact investment targeting early-stage social enterprises. Her regional experience spans both Africa and Latin America. For the last 5 years, Marlene has been an Investment Committee member for Alphamundi’s SocialAlpha Investment Fund (SAIF). She has also been an Investment Committee member for Alphamundi’s AlphaJiri Fund since inception in December 2019. She has served as a member of the Board of Directors of both public and private companies in the education, real estate, and infrastructure sectors, and as an Advisory Board member to a number of private equity and mezzanine funds in developing markets. Before joining DEG, Marlene was a Vice President at Goldman Sachs & Co. in New York, responsible for over USD 5B of investments in bonds, derivatives, and stocks, primarily in the US telecom and media sectors. She has a B.A. in Economics from Boston College and earned the Chartered Financial Analyst Designation in 2005. Marlene speaks English, Spanish and German fluently. 

Christine Roddy
Executive Director


Christine is the Executive Director for the AlphaMundi Foundation, based in Washington, D.C., USA. Previously, she was an internal strategy consultant with the United Nations Foundation (UNF), where she co-led an organization-wide systems and business processes review and developed recommendations to improve operational efficiencies. In her role, she also led the compliance, procurement, finance and operational start-up for new initiatives hosted at the Foundation. Prior to joining UNF, Christine worked as a Program Manager at ACDI/VOCA, where she oversaw a $48 million portfolio of agriculture supply chain development programs. She has relevant experience in Mali, Kenya, Mozambique, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Peru, and Jamaica. Christine holds a BA in International Relations from the College of William and Mary and an MBA from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business. She speaks English, Spanish and conversational Arabic.

David Maina


David is a Director at AlphaMundi based in Nairobi, Kenya. He joined the company in 2014 to start the Nairobi office and work on the investment process. He heads the team in Nairobi and responsible for partnerships, pipeline development and portfolio management. He previously worked at Abraaj Group as an Associate, where he was instrumental in the implementation of a Fund Accounting and Portfolio Management ERP, and also worked in the investment department as a portfolio analyst. Prior to joining Abraaj, he was working in a corporate finance firm focusing on small and medium enterprises. David holds a Bachelor of Education in Economics and Mathematics from Moi University and is a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (CPA) from Strathmore University. He is currently pursuing an MBA in Finance and Strategic Management from the United States International University - Africa (USIU) and has passed Level I of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Program.

Judith Santbergen
Senior Manager


Judith Santbergen is a Manager at AlphaMundi, based in Nairobi, Kenya. Judith has over 13 years of experience in commercial banking, corporate finance, restructuring, and impact investing. Before joining AlphaMundi in April 2019, she has worked as a senior investment officer in the Africa team of Triodos, a leading impact investor. She was responsible for sourcing debt and equity investments in inclusive finance, renewable energy and sustainable food and agri in the region. Prior to that she worked in various roles for Rabobank, one of the leading Dutch banks with a strong focus on agri and SMEs. Judith holds a MA in Social Sciences and MSc in Business Administration from the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. 

José Lozano


José Lozano joined AlphaMundi as a Manager in Bogota, Colombia, in May 2020. Previously, José worked for 6 years in Alianza Fiduciaria & Alianza Valores, as leading asset manager. At Alianza, he structured fixed income, real estate, and alternative investments mutual funds and voluntary pension portfolios, led the business intelligence team and headed the equity research unit responsible for evaluating companies listed in the Colombian Stock Exchange. Prior to Alianza, José worked for 1.5 years in metal mechanics producer Corpacero as a financial planning analyst. José also worked 4 years in Genesis Banca de Inversión as an investment bank senior analyst, participating in several project finance deals including a loan to a bus operator of Bogota's public transport system and the valuation of an agribusiness company. José holds a Master's degree in business administration from IE Business School in Madrid, Spain, and a Bachelor's of Industrial Engineering from Los Andes University in Bogotá, Colombia. He is a native Spanish speaker and fluent in English.

Miriam is an Associate at AlphaMundi, based in Nairobi, Kenya. She has over 5 years of experience supporting both the private and public sectors across several East and West African countries (in Anglophone & Francophone Africa) and delivered business, operational and transaction advisory in the Agriculture, Renewable Energy, Consumer goods, and Water & Sanitation sectors. Prior to joining AlphaMundi, she was an associate at Open Capital Advisors where she worked on projects in agriculture, water, sanitation & hygiene (WASH) and renewable energy in providing investor readiness support and strategic advice to entrepreneurs, governments, and regional bodies. Miriam has relevant work experience in Kenya, Ghana, Guinea Bissau, Ivory Coast, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, and the U.S. She holds a BSc in Economics and French Studies from Trinity College, Hartford, Conneticut

Estefania Abello


Estefania is a Colombian professional with 7 years of experience in the local investment sector. Before joining Alphamundi, Estefania worked in the Investment Banking industry, supporting, and analyzing deals in more than 9 different sectors, such as Fintech, Foodtech, waste management, transportation, and real estate. She has been responsible for valuations from companies with assets of more than USD 1 Billion.  She holds a degree in Finance and Foreign Affairs from the Externado de Colombia university and the CFA designation. Currently is part of the Directors Board of the CFA Society Colombia. She is a native Spanish speaker and a fluent English speaker.

Sebastián Uribe


Sebastián joined AlphaMundi as an Analyst in May 2020, based in Bogotá Colombia. Sebastián previously worked at Campo Capital, an agriculture and forestry asset and project management company as a Financial Analyst, working on the company's Greenfield eucalyptus, cacao, and basil projects. He was also involved in the creation of a REDD+ forestry management operations business company in reserved and protected areas in Piura, Peru, focused on the development of agroforestry plantations on lands of native communities, issuance of carbon credits, and forest regeneration. Before that, Sebastián worked at British American Tobacco as an Intern for the Operations Finance area for South American and Caribbean cluster. Finally, he worked as a volunteer for FIDES, a foundation for people with cognitive impairment and Down syndrome. Sebastián holds Business Administration and Economics degrees from Universidad de los Andes in Colombia, where he wrote his thesis on the impact of the Colombian armed conflict on financial inclusion levels. He speaks Spanish and English fluently. 

Angelica Giraldo
Intern, Latin America


Angélica Giraldo joined AlphaMundi as an Analyst in June 2021, based in Bogotá, Colombia. She is a last year Business and Economics student at Universidad de los Andes, with minors in French Language and Culture and Design. She participated in two cultural and academic exchanges, one at the University of St. Gallen (HSG) in Switzerland (2018) and the other one at the Luigi Bocconi University in Italy (2020). Angélica enjoys interacting in multicultural environments and working with multidisciplinary teams. She worked as a teaching and research assistant in +9 opportunities in marketing, finance sustainability and strategy courses at the university (2016-21). She speaks Spanish, English and French. 

Cécilia Serin


Cécilia is a Manager at AlphaMundi, based in Geneva, Switzerland. She was previously the head of member relations for Geneva-based association Financial Centers for Sustainability (FC4S). Prior to that, Cecilia spent 4 years at the World Economic Forum working on a new way to measure "Sustainable Competitiveness", managing a group of 14 international experts. Cecilia also worked at UNEP Finance Initiative as the Global Roundtable Coordinator, in charge of delivering a 3 days event for 500 people in Washington, D.C. Cecilia speaks French and English and holds a BSc in Business Administration from the International University of Monaco, a MSc in International Development from the London School of Economics, as well as a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Corporate Social Responsibility from the University of Geneva. 

Nora Von Wintersdorff


Nora is a Fellow at AlphaMundi, based in Europe. Nora obtained her Master's diploma in Business and Development Studies at the Copenhagen Business School, with a special focus on strategy, management and sustainable development related to emerging markets. She dedicated her Master's thesis to the hurdles impact investors are confronted with in Latin America and how to overcome them. Additionally, Nora holds a Certificate for Entrepreneurship and Private Sector Development from Makerere University Business School in Kampala, Uganda. Previously, Nora lived in Latin America for 3.5 years. She speaks German, English and Spanish, and holds a BSc in Business, Language and Culture from the Copenhagen Business School.

Veerle Berbers
Director of the Board of SocialAlpha-Bastion

Drs. Veerle Berbers has been on the Board of the SocialAlpha-Bastion Fund since end 2015 and has been a shareholder and co-investor of the Fund as well. She started her career in investor relations in New York, then moved to London to set-up the European operations of Technimetrics. After the company went over to Thomson Reuters, Veerle became a Partner at Brunswick, the leading financial communication agency, responsible for developing the Benelux market. Since 2004 she has moved her focus to impact investing for her Family Office and as an advisor for organisations such as Triodos IM, Cordaid Investments and Pymwymic (Put Your Money Where Your Meaning Is Community). She has served on several boards and is a Fellow of the leading Impact Investing Platform Toniic.  Her Family Office impact investments include both funds and direct investments in micro-finance, renewable energy, clean-tech, SME’s in emerging markets, land-mapping, infra-structure, food distribution, aqua-culture, Africa and Latin America. Veerle was born and raised in Belgium,  hods a MA in Andragology from the University of Groningen in the Netherlands and is now based in Amsterdam. A Dutch national, Veerle is fluent in Dutch, French, English, German, and conversational in Spanish.

Uli Grabenwarter
Director of the Board of SocialAlpha-Bastion

Uli Grabenwarter is Deputy Director - Equity Investments and Head of Investments – Technology and Innovation at European Investment Fund (EIF), Europe’s biggest Fund-of-Funds Investor in Impact Investing, Technology Transfer and Venture Capital. Previously he was Head of Strategic Development for EIF’s equity activities and, in this capacity, has led the design and the launch of the Social Impact Accelerator, the first pan-European social impact investing fund-of-funds. From 2010 to 2012 he conducted a research project in collaboration with IESE University of Navarra in Barcelona and the Family Office Circle Foundation based in Switzerland, analysing the investment strategies in impact investing of 75 of the largest single-family offices in the world. He is a visiting Professor for Private Equity and Venture Capital at IESE University, a Trustee of the Global Steering Group for Impact Investment, and invests as an angel investor in Life Sciences Start-Ups and impact-driven enterprises. He regularly publishes articles and white papers on venture capital and impact investing and is a member of several expert groups on impact investing and impact metrics across Europe. Uli holds a Master’s degree in Business and Finance of the University of Graz.

Paola Dangelo is based in Luxembourg. With 21 years’ experience in the financial services industry in Luxembourg, Paola joined Innpact in 2012 to lead the team providing governance and management services to the Board of Directors of several impact finance investment funds. Having previously covered different roles at Brown Brothers Harriman & Co., a prominent depositary and administrative agent with offices worldwide, as well as at Clearstream Banking SA, Paola brings with her many years of experience of custody, fund administration, and governance of Luxembourg investment funds. Paola is a member of the Management Committee of Innpact. Paola holds a Master’s degree in International Economics and International Relations, with focus on development economics, from the “Universitá Cattolica” of Milan and is graduated from the Boulder Institute of Microfinance.

Remo Oswald is Founding Partner and Chairman at Trail Capital AG, which is mandated by leading Impact and Microfinance Manager to foster their growth Strategies. Sustainable, Transparent and Fair for all Stakeholders. Before that, Remo was Co-Head of Business Development for BlueOrchard and was responsible for the majority of their Client Book in the DACH Region.  Previous Senior Roles were with Swiss & Global Asset Management in Zurich, where he was Director Sales & Distribution in charge of key clients. Prior to this, Remo held senior positions with Horizon21, Lombard Odier Darier Hentsch & Cie and BNP Paribas Private Bank Switzerland, where he contributed significantly to business development in both Switzerland and Europe. His extensive experience across all Asset Owner Categories in Switzerland and Europe, spans more than two decades and includes senior management roles as well as the incorporation, management and successful sale of an asset management company. Remo holds an academic degree in business and economics from the Zurich Graduate School of Business Administration and has continuously pursued executive education throughout his career.

Donald Peck
Chair of the Investment Committee of SocialAlpha-Bastion


Donald Peck is the Chair of the Investment Committee of SocialAlpha-Bastion, AlphaMundi’s impact debt fund. He started his career in 1978 as an emerging markets investment banker. Later he became an investor in new markets at IFC, CDC and Actis, founding and running a series of venture and private equity funds in South Asia. In 2006, when based in India, Donald co-founded Lok Capital and Lok Foundation which works with Indian microfinance companies to provide venture equity and technical/managerial support. Donald is now a social investor based in London and much involved in Lok and other projects in India, Africa and South America. A British national, Donald holds a doctorate in Modern Latin American History, and speaks English and Spanish, conversational French and Portuguese and a little Hindi.

Rolf Grunwald
Member of the Investment Committee of SocialAlpha-Bastion


Rolf Grunwald is a member of the Investment Committee of SocialAlpha-Bastion, AlphaMundi´s impact debt fund. He started his career in 1978 as analyst in DEG-German Investment- and Development Company. DEG provides long term loans and equity to private companies in developing countries. He worked for more than 37 years in DEG in various Departments like the Internal Audit, Latin America, Manufacturing, Asia, German customer, and Infrastructure Department.  In1995, he became Department Head. For three years he was seconded to a private Development Bank in Costa Rica to support the project finance team. As Head of the Asia Department of DEG he was located for three years in Bangkok. Rolf is now retired and occasionally he supports as volunteer  development projects in Africa. Furthermore he is a member of the Board of Directors of another Fund providing long term debt financing to companies in the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy sector in West Africa. Rolf is German citizen and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering of the Cologne University of Applied Sciences. He speaks German, English and Spanish.
